Fertility Clinic Dallas
When scheduling your first visit, please keep in mind that it would be ideal if both you and your partner are present. This appointment can be scheduled at anytime during your menstrual cycle, including during your menses.
A detailed medical and reproductive history will be obtained prior to your meeting with the physician. At your initial visit, the physician will spend time reviewing your history and records with you. Medical problems, previous surgeries, prior pregnancies, the pattern of your menstrual cycle and any pelvic pain, prior evaluation and treatment for infertility as well as your partner’s history are examples of the important information to be discussed at the time of your history intake.
Exam At First Visit
A full physical examination including a pelvic exam and transvaginal ultrasound will be performed by the physician at your first visit. The pelvic ultrasound evaluates the size and shape of the uterus and ovaries. Both 2D and 3D ultrasound imaging will be performed for the most accurate visualization of these structures. Ultrasound imaging is helpful in identifying anatomical causes of infertility including uterine fibroids, polyps, scar tissue and ovarian cysts. In addition, the size and appearance of your ovaries is useful in determining your ovarian reserve (the potential number of eggs in your ovaries), especially when performed at the beginning of your menstrual cycle.
Your physician will review the general causes of infertility and its initial work-up with you. Based on your personal history, the physician will recommend diagnostic testing best suited for you. Routine blood work, including infectious disease screening and prenatal labs, can be drawn at this appointment. You will also be offered blood work for genetic screening. Your physician may elect to discuss fertility treatment options with you at your initial visit or at a return visit following completion of your recommended testing.
Meet With Patient Consultant
After meeting with the physician, you have the opportunity to meet with one of our patient consultants. This will allow you plenty of opportunity to have questions answered regarding the scheduling and financial portion of any recommended testing and/or treatment.
Plan of Care
Finally, you will meet with one of our reproductive nurses. She will review your plan of care as outlined by your physician and ensure all of your medical questions have been answered. She may also facilitate the ordering of any prescribed medications at this time.
At CARE Fertility, we understand an initial office visit can be overwhelming with new information and our staff will be dedicated to assisting you through this process. We look forward to meeting you at your first visit!
