Texas hormonal testing

The Center for Assisted Reproduction does all hormonal testing on site using the Immulite system. This modern instrument in our own laboratory enables us to obtain results more quickly. Unlike commercial laboratories that batch blood tests and run them on a daily basis or less frequently, CAR can obtain results 1 to 2 hours after the blood sample is obtained.

The Center for Assisted Reproduction does the following hormonal tests on site:

Estradiol

Estradiol is intended strictly for in vitro diagnostic use as an aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various hormonal sexual disorders. Estradiol levels are useful in evaluation of menstrual irregularities, infertility problems, and sexual precocity in females. Levels are elevated in polycycstic ovary syndrome, and decreased estradiol levels are associated with primary or secondary ovarian failure.

FSH

FSH is intended strictly for in vitro diagnostic use as an aid in the diagnosis and treatment of pituitary and gonadal disorders.

HCG

HCG is intended strictly for in vitro diagnostic use as an aid in the detection of pregnancy.

Luteinizing Hormone (LH)

Luteinizing Hormone (LH) is intended strictly for in vitro diagnostic use as an aid in clinical diagnosis. Luteinizing hormone levels are useful in evaluation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Levels are elevated in primary gonadal failure, and decrease when deficient gonadal stimulation has resulted in the hypogonadal state. A mid-cycle rise is a good indication that ovulation will occur approximately 24 hours later.

Progesterone

Progesterone is intended strictly for in vitro diagnostic use as an aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the ovaries or placenta.

Testosterone

Testosterone is intended strictly for in vitro diagnostic use in the management of conditions involving excess or deficiency of this androgen. Testosterone measurements are helpful in evaluating hypogonadal states. Testosterone in the prehormones. Common causes of increased serum testosterone levels in females include polycycstic ovaries, ovarian tumors, adrenal tumors, and adrenal hyperplasia.
