My Pregnancy Test

Posted under: A Patient's Perspective of Infertility Treatment — Fertility Patient @ 4:38 pm

I cheated. The anxiousness was overwhelming and I decided to take a home pregnancy test yesterday. It was negative. I was very upset and frustrated. My husband has been very supportive during this entire journey and he continued during my meltdown. He kept reminding me that the whole process had probably been a shock to my body and we had frozen embryos to try again. I went to CAR this morning for my real pregnancy test. Imagine my shock and surprise when the nurse informed me it was positive. We are both so excited. My advice to anyone: save yourself the heartache and don’t cheat. It does no good.

I have a question were you on a waiting list because right now I am in Iraq and would like to have IVF when I get back home which is arund december or january time frame. I would like to know what type of insurance yu had and hw much was your treatment and if you can give me some insight on how long it took for yur treatment. I am married but my husband drinks and smokes to much so I am going with a sperm donor. I just turn 27 in July. Congrats on your pregnancy and I wish you well. I hope that I have not taken up to much of your time.

It is so nice to hear from you! When I first went to CAR, I had to wait for about 2 weeks to get a consultation with Dr. Nackley. As far as I know, there is no waiting list for IVF. They give you a list of things you must do to get your calendar. My husband and I were able to get them done in a few days. I do have insurance, but unfortunately it does not cover infertility. CAR is a large facility and I’m sure they contract with most insurance companies. The billing department will meet with you and help you figure out what type of benefits you have. The cost for my treatment was $8440, but it depends on what type of procedure you do. I don’t know if using a sperm donor costs more. Thank you for your warm wishes and your response to my blog. I hope it helps at least one person in the same situation.
